Do all dog breeds need a blanket?
There are a lot of different options for you to buy a blanket online. So, how do you choose the right one for your dog? Size, breed, health and age are important factors that affect how your dog's body temperature is regulated. And therefore whether it needs a blanket or not. Some breeds, such as the Siberian Husky, have thick and insulating fur and are naturally suited to a cold climate. Other breeds, such as the English Pointer, will lose body heat faster with their short-haired fur. A dog blanket can be a useful accessory for most breeds, but the need varies. During extreme weather conditions, even the most robust dogs will benefit from extra insulation.

Assess the need by behavior
It is also not good for the dog to be too hot. If you are going to do some more strenuous activities such as skiing or cycling, you should keep an eye on your dog. If it is panting abnormally or wobbling, it may be a sign of overheating. If it is shivering, lifting its paws off the ground or changing its behavior in other ways, it may be a sign that it is freezing. To decide when your dog needs to use the blanket, it is therefore a good idea to consider its activity level, coat and any health conditions that can affect body temperature. The most important thing is to get to know your dog and monitor its behavior.
How to choose the right tire
There are many different types of blankets, for different activities and weather conditions. To ensure that the garment becomes a favorite with your dog, there are some factors you can choose from. Fit, weight, size and material will largely determine whether your dog is comfortable or not. It is important that the dog blanket - and dog clothing in general - has an ergonomic fit and allows full freedom of movement. At the same time, it should be light, in the right size for the dog and, not least, in a material that is comfortable against the fur. The right size is found by measuring the length of the dog's back from between the shoulder blades to the base of the tail. To keep warm, it is not necessarily the biggest and heaviest that is best, but rather a blanket that insulates well and does not press the fur down.
Dog blanket for winter and bad weather
In Norway, winters can be cold, and therefore a dog blanket is a natural choice for protection against snow, wind and freezing temperatures. Especially for smaller dogs that are closer to the ground, it is smart to have a garment that provides extra warmth. Here again, the use will vary from breed to breed. Remember that if you yourself are freezing and find it cold to go outside, your dog may find the same!
A dog blanket for protection against rain is perhaps the most obvious. First of all, the walk will be much more cheerful and comfortable for the dog if it does not end up soaked. It is also much easier to keep warm if the fur stays as dry as possible. Do you walk a lot in the forest, autumn darkness or other places with poor visibility? Choose a practical reflective blanket for optimal visibility and safety on the walk! Or do you perhaps need more accessories for the walk?
