In addition, you need a lot of equipment, not to mention a lot of time and love. In general, getting a puppy is comparable to bringing a baby into the house. • A light leash
  • Puppy harness
  • Dog bags
  • A good, safe place to sleep
  • Food bowl and puppy food

Basic equipment for the walk

To take your puppy for a walk (read: to go to the bathroom), you must have a puppy collar , leash and harness in place. Depending on the season and weather, it may also be a good idea to have paw socks , a blanket and reflectors . Don't forget doggy bags so you can pick up after yourself!

A safe place to sleep

A puppy actually sleeps most of the time, so it's important to provide a comfortable and cozy sleeping area. A cozy dog bed and blanket will help provide a sense of security, so they can sleep soundly and get the rest they need. You can read more about how much a puppy sleeps here .

Food and nutrition

Without food and drink, a puppy is not good! Just like for us humans, water and nutrition are absolutely basic needs. Therefore, a food bowl and quality puppy food should be in place when you welcome your little paw.

Usually, the breeder sends a little of the food that the puppy is used to eating. Dogs' intestinal flora is very sensitive, so it is important that you do not change the type of food too quickly. It is important to understand the nutritional needs of your furry friend. After a few weeks, you can gradually start switching to a new food if you wish.

Care and training

Dogs need regular care of their fur, paws, claws, mouth, eyes and ears. Enzymatic detergents, nail clippers, shampoo and brushes are some of the basic grooming products. You can browse our entire range of products for your dog's health and fur !

It is a good idea to start potty training from a young age, and reward desired behavior. It is therefore useful to have treats on hand, but be careful not to serve too many at once - this can cause an upset stomach. It is also a good idea to give a chew bone for the puppy to gnaw on, to avoid puppy biting .

Toys

Activity and play are important for your puppy's development and well-being, and there are toys that stimulate different needs. So, have a selection of slightly different toys for them to choose from. Some puppies also like to have a cuddly toy, such as a teddy bear or cloth. These are great for giving your puppy security and peace of mind, and therefore do not need to be used for the most active playtimes.

Transport cage

For puppies that are to be transported by car, proper security is required by law. You often have to drive to and from the vet, for example when the puppy needs basic vaccinations. Have the transport cage ready, so you don't have to think about this if you suddenly need to drive!
